, Gabrielle Reeves, The Casper College Foundation Fine Art Collection 

Born August 14, 1986 in Wyoming, Gabrielle Reeves earned degrees at Casper College, A.F.A. Fine Arts (2006) and University of Wyoming, B.F.A. Fine Arts (2008). Reeves exposes both human nature and natural surroundings. From the Casper College Fine Art Collection, the gilded edges of Emilie: Fire/ Earth (acrylic ink on found paper) speaks to the value she places on the people she encounters and renders so exquisitely. Perhaps the gold is a halo for this woman so seemingly at ease in this space with oversize beetles and the “Joseph’s Coat” plant; both leaf and woman glow with vitality. Even in early portraits completed when she was a student studying Fine Art at Casper College, her careful study of character is evident. Recent works include a sensitive portrayal of family, friends, the people of her Turkey such as women sewing and men at work. The backgrounds are not merely place settings but thoughtfully articulated visions of a complex country; a beautiful world of contrast, pattern, and harmony. With recent exhibitions at The Red Peak Gallery at First State Bank, The Bradford Brinton Museum, The Dahl Arts Center, The Nicolaysen Art Museum, as well as galleries across Europe, and in the collection of institutions such as the University of Wyoming, she teaches and exhibits art in Istanbul, Turkey.
