Lichen - Physcia stellaris
Description
Lichen is a composite organism, meaning it is made up of multiple individual organisms. It arises when an algae or cyanobacteria lives among filaments of fungi species. These multiple organisms form a mutualistic relationship, the algae or cyanobacteria providing the fungi species energy and the fungi providing shelter and protection to the algae or cyanobacteria.
