Have the Democrats an Elephant on Hand?
Description
Thomas Nast depicts Grover Cleveland, the Democratic president-elect who would take office on March 4, 1885 (just a week after this illustration was published), as an elephant. This is the only time Nast used what was by then a recognized Republican symbol for the party, for a Democrat.
