Description
Studio portrait of Native American (Ute) Chief Ouray and his wife Chipeta. Chief Ouray wears braids, a choker necklace, a fringed buckskin shirt with probably beaded details, pants, leather boots, and a woven blanket attached at the waist. Chipeta wears a buckskin dress with fringe at the sleeves and hem, possibly a leather cummerbund, and moccasins.
