This sweetheart locket is from a collection that relates to Robert Lind, who served in the US Army during and after WWII and was stationed at Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Sweetheart jewelry first became popular as a means of connection between loved ones back home and the men in service. Many pieces were produced in the shape of patriotic symbols, often depicting the flag and an American eagle.
