Helmet, from 10th Mountain Division M-1
Description
The steel helmet is a half oval made of stamped steel with a crimped edge along the bottom. Two rings would have are spot welded on both sides of the bottom to attach the liner and chin strap. The body is painted in olive drab. Stock Number 74-H-115

Provenance:
This helmet was found by an Italian farmer on Mount Belvedere while plowing his field. His find happened to coincide with a 1988 trip to Italy by 10th Mountain Division veterans. The farmer gave the helmet to John Hames, son of veteran Eugene Hames, former commander of Company K, 85th Mountain Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division.
