Noah’s Ark at the Skirball: The Art of Imagination
The Art of Imagination is a suite of virtual offerings for Pre-K through Grade 5 students, teachers, and families designed to center the voices of students and foster a sense of agency through themes of community, storytelling, and action-taking. It is based on the award-winning exhibition Noah’s Ark at the Skirball™, which features a floor-to-ceiling ark and 300-plus whimsically designed animal puppets and sculptures. Co-developed with the Skirball Teacher Advisory Council, this set of synchronous and asynchronous arts-integration resources aligns with California Common Core State Standards and the California Arts Standards. The lessons and accompanying videos aim to foster students’ social and emotional development as well as build skills in civic literacy, public speaking, inference, and creative writing. The ancient story of Noah’s Ark aligns with Skirball’s conviction that by caring for one another, we can weather life’s storms and help build a better world.
