Bay Area Discovery Museum

The Bay Area Discovery Museum brings research-backed, early learning experiences in STEM and the arts to children, families, and educators. We do this through initiatives including: A children’s museum with dedicated spaces for children 6 months to 10 years old, and research backed exhibits, programs, and learning goals. School and community partnerships through which we offer research-backed, NGSS and Common Core aligned programs, including a mobile engineering lab, that can be attended at the museum or brought to schools. Local and national partnerships that leverage BADM’s expertise and innovative approaches to early learning experiences. A museum-based preschool that develops children’s creative problem-solving skills through a STEM and art-rich, innovative practice that responds to student’s unique curiosities, questions, and interests. and classes, with research-backed curriculum that are project-based and hands-on.

Think, Make, Try: Everyday Engineering

Need help crossing a body of water safely? Need a way to sneak past a hungry troll? What about a sled that can travel speedily down a snowy hill? You need an engineer! Engineers are the problem-solvers of our world! Engineers identify problems, then use math and science to work to find possible solutions. In these video-inspired activities, you’ll learn to use the engineering design process to build your engineering skills and solve some design challenges of your own!
