University of Wyoming Geological Museum

The University of Wyoming Geological Museum is located in Laramie, Wyoming. We are a small museum, but mighty in fossils! We highlight Wyoming's incredibly rich Paleontologic and Geologic Record. We have displays that focus on the dinosaurs of the Morrison Formation, Wyoming's Oceans, and many displays highlighting Wyoming's mammal record. Also fan favorites include our 'glowing rocks' room, a fossil prep-lab, and an augmented reality sandbox. Museum is free and open to the public.

Hyracotherium angustidens

The upper right tooth row of the maxilla consisting of Molars 1-3. Hyracotherium lived 55 million years ago during the Eocene Epoch in Wyoming and was an early relative of the modern day horse. This specimen was collected in North Central Wyoming in the Willwood Formation.
