Roof Tile

Description

Sanyangzhuang, discovered in 2003 on the Yellow River flood plain, is one the few archaeological sites to reveal farm life in the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220). Researchers uncovered a farm community, buried by a flood but still largely intact, including houses with roof tiles shaped like the one in this image but mostly undecorated. They even found a pile of tiles stacked next to a wall, perhaps laid ready for repair work and abandoned when the flood came and the inhabitants fled.
