Sauropod Giants

There is an ongoing scientific debate about whether Paluxysaurus jonesi and Sauroposeidon proteles are separate species. Some paleontologists suggest that Paluxysaurus could be synonymous with Sauroposeidon.

What does synonymous mean? Two or more of the same thing with no significant minor differences. Synonymous species would refer to the same species known by two different names.
